The following comment was sent to me by e-mail on May 2, 2002. I am
unable to verify this statement. Any counterstatement will also be
published.
In the foreword of Christof Teuscher's "Turing's Connectionism"
Copeland and Proudfoot write:
"Our own earlier investigations in association with our students Craig
Webster, Bruce Webster and Justin Zajec, involved only a small number
of neurons." - page xiii.
Craig Webster has never studied Turing's neural networks as Copeland
or Proudfoot's student, and neither has he been supervised by them at
thesis level. In 1994 and 1995 Craig Webster independently contributed
to Copeland and Proudfoot's "Turing Project" as a postgraduate
student, but this work remains his, and cannot be considered Copeland
and Proudfoot's "earlier investigations". Further discussion of these
